A day to give Thanks

So, it has been quite a while since I posted anything on this blog of mine.  There have been many times that I thought I should make some notes to remember the moments.  But alas, other moments would happen that needed my more immediate attention. I thought that today being the national day of Thanksgiving gave me good reason to sit down and take a moment to reflect.
This Thanksgiving Holiday has been like none other in the history of our little family.  Today we are at home, just the 7 of us--no family, no friends.  We celebrated with some family yesterday, but today the few friends we thought might be free to visit with us, already had plans.  So, here we are on Thanksgiving day, enjoying our little family and celebrating all of our blessings.
I actually prepared a full Thanksgiving meal, all by myself!  This was my first Turkey.
I
It was really pretty good!!  Along with the Turkey we had the stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce.  I also made green bean and corn casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli and cheese sauce, deviled eggs, fruit and rolls.  Oh and for dessert there was a cherry cheesecake pie and chocolate heath bar cake! The children (and husband) were quite impressed with "The Feast"!
Daddy did a great job carving the Turkey.  The big boys each got a leg and Jameson wanted the wing.
All the excitement was just too much for Millie.  She ate her turkey and fell asleep.

We are now preparing a for another new Thanksgiving weekend event tomorrow and Saturday. Instead of shopping or Christmas decorating, we will head to Nashville with our crew and hit the Science Center, the swimming pool at "Grammie's Hotel" and go see the lights at Opryland Hotel.

As much as I really want our Christmas decorations to be out, this casual family time is giving me too many reasons to put that work off for just a few more minutes.  I'll ooh and aah over a few more lego creations, snuggle with my babies, sing along with my little musicians and have some leftovers first.

I'm so thankful today and every day for the blessings I do not deserve!
